ACCESS CONTROL
LUMA Electronics is a PSA (Private Security Authority) registered security company, ensuring that all our security solutions meet the highest industry standards.
Access control systems manage movement within buildings, prevent unauthorized access, and track staff, contractors, and visitors. Luma Electronics provides reliable, user-friendly solutions with features like permission levels, scheduled access, and biometric entry.
Effective access control involves verifying user identity through authentication methods such as passwords, biometrics, or key cards, and then applying authorization policies that define what actions each user is permitted to perform. This can range from simple read-only access to full administrative control.
Type of Access Control we offer
CLOUD BASED ACCESS CONTROL
Cloud-based access control is a modern security system that uses internet-connected technology to manage and monitor access to buildings, doors, and restricted areas without the need for traditional on-site servers.
LUMA Electronics offers comprehensive cloud-based systems that allow for the remote management, monitoring and maintenance of access control and CCTV from any device anywhere.
Benefits :
BIOMETRICS & FACIAL RECOGNITION
Level up your access security using biometric or facial recognition technology. Unlike cards that can be lost or shared, biometrics and facial recognition allows accurate, reliable and efficient verification specific to that person.
Biometric readers grant access to a door via fingerprint. The multi-spectral imaging (MSI) sensor is used to read the fingerprint and produce an extremely accurate image that is compared to registered prints on the database. Recognized fingerprints with the correct access permissions will be granted entry.
Facial recognition access control systems adopt deep learning face recognition algorithms to accurately recognize key points of a target’s face which allows for contactless access and can be configured to support temperature monitoring.
STANDALONE ACCESS CONTROL
With our Access Control Systems, entry points can be scheduled to lock at certain times and permit temporary access to contractors and short-term visitors. In case of fire, systems will be set to automatically unlock all doors for safe evacuation. LUMA Electronics only use systems equipped to deal with temperamental Irish weather so all equipment will work externally and internally.
Luma Electronics install a range of standalone access control systems for doors in need of advanced security. We will implement price conscious systems that act as a on-premises access control solution for smaller businesses or homes or systems that can be easily scaled for larger businesses and integrated with additional security solutions.
Typical Applications : Office rooms and staff areas, Server and IT rooms, Storage or utility spaces, Small retail and hospitality venues, Residential entry doors or gates.
NETWORKED ACCESS CONTROL
Networked Access Control is a system where door controllers, readers, and user credentials are connected to a central server or cloud-based software. This allows administrators to manage access rights remotely, track entry activity in real time, and integrate with other security systems such as CCTV or alarm monitoring.
Our solutions are tailored to suit homes, compact businesses, and scalable infrastructures for larger organizations. Each system offers centralized management and can be integrated with other security technologies for a complete, future-ready solution.
A well-implemented networked access control system empowers organizations with intelligent security management, reducing risks while improving convenience.
TIME ATTENDANCE SOLUTION
Our Time Attendance Solution is designed to help businesses streamline workforce management by accurately tracking employee working hours, attendance, and punctuality. It eliminates manual errors associated with traditional methods like punch cards or paper records, ensuring a secure and efficient way to monitor staff activities.
Key Features :
INTERCOM ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM
LUMA Electronics installs top-of-the-range intercom systems that seamlessly integrate with access control solutions. When the bell on the external door station is pressed, a video or audio call is instantly initiated, allowing the property owner or authorized employee to grant entry through an indoor IP monitor.

FAQ
What is an access control system ?
An access control system is a security solution that regulates who can enter or exit certain areas of a building. It replaces or enhances traditional locks and keys with electronic credentials such as key cards, fobs, PIN codes, or biometric verification.
Why should I consider installing access control?
Access control increases security, prevents unauthorized access, reduces the risks associated with lost keys, and provides a detailed record of entry and exit activities. It is especially beneficial for offices, warehouses, schools, and residential complexes.
Can access control systems integrate with CCTV or alarms ?
Yes, most modern access control systems can integrate with CCTV cameras, intrusion alarms, intercoms, and time attendance software, providing a complete security solution.
What happens if a key card or fob is lost ?
Lost or stolen cards can be quickly deactivated in the system, preventing unauthorized use. A replacement credential can then be issued without changing physical locks.
Is access control cost-effective compared to traditional keys ?
Yes. While the initial installation investment may be higher, access control systems reduce long-term costs by eliminating the need for rekeying locks and improving overall security efficiency.
Can I restrict access based on time or user groups ?
Yes, access permissions can be fully customized. For example, staff may be granted access only during work hours, or certain employees may be restricted from entering specific rooms.
Do I need an internet connection for access control systems ?
Not always. Standalone and local networked systems work offline, while cloud-based systems require internet for remote management.
How reliable are biometric access control systems ?
Modern biometric systems are highly reliable and secure. They use advanced recognition technology to minimize false matches, making them ideal for high-security areas.
What industries benefit most from access control ?
Access control is widely used in offices, schools, hospitals, retail stores, warehouses, hotels, data centers, residential properties, and government facilities.
